Barangay Poblacion is centrally situated within the municipality of Bontoc, Mountain Province. It is bounded on the east by barangay Samoki; north-west by barangay Calutit and south-west by barangay Bontoc Ili. It has a land area of 61 hectares.
The inhabitants are a mixture of ethnic groups with the Bontoks still dominant. The others are Kankana-eys, Applais, and Ilocanos from other places. Bontoc dialect is mostly spoken followed by the Kankana-ey and Ilocano. Bontoc, being the capital is the center of commerce and trade. It is also where the non-government and local government offices are located. Most people in the barangays are involved in various farming activities, backyard piggery and poultry activities. Aside from the various commercial activities, some are also involved in food manufacturing, metal and wood crafts, commercial fruit production, upland fisheries, etc.

Figure 3: The Multipurpose building proudly stands at the provincial plaza serving as a government office, a meeting place for large occasions, and even a “pasalubong center” for the visitors. It is also where the Radyo ng Bayan – Bontoc is located.
The existing communication system consists of BUTEL, a postal service, dial telephone system (PLDT) and the cell phones which could service the populace locally and internationally. It has a Radyo ng Bayan (AM-DWFR) located at the Multipurpose Building. News papers and other print media are distributed everyday or at least once a week. The water source comes from Ad-ab and Sollong. Garbage collection system is thru the municipal truck which collects garbage everyday. Mopreco is the sole distributor of power within Poblacion and 99% of the households are energized.
