Results and Conclusion
The South Cotabato or the The South Cotabato/ Sultan Kudarat / Saragani /General Santos (SOCSKSARGEN) economic growth area is developing into a profitable business enclave and the GSFPC has emerged as the region's principal trading port. The rapidly increasing population in the area as well as the establishment of East Asean Growth Area have resulted into an increased demand for fish products which the port aims to supply. Moreover, it is expected to service a huge tuna based fishing fleet off Sarangani Bay and the nearby fishing grounds with a projected fish unloading of 300 MT per day.
GSFPC has dramatically started to lure investors involved in an array of economic interests, among which are some of the largest companies in the Philippine Fisheries Sector. The prospects of bigger investments are even brighter in the future when the port will have completed its top-of-the-line facilities.
Therefore, the General Santos City Fishing Industry is moving ahead since there are different agencies and offices such as General Santos City Fish Port Complex, which alleviate in maintaining the quality of sashimi and provide jobs for the “Generals”. The Tuna Canneries also helps in the development of the City’s Fishing Industries for it has skilled workers and clean processing machines wherein it helps in growing production of tuna processed foods.
