General Santos City Fish Port Complex(GSCFPC)
General Santos City Fish Port Complex plays an important role in Tuna Industry. The General Santos Fish Port Complex was born out of the vision of the City’s Fishing Industry. Its construction was funded by the Overseas Economic fund (OECF) of Japan. Now, the General Santos Fish Port Complex holds the record of being the largest fish port complex next to Navotas, but is the most modern in the country.

The Fish Port, as it is called, provides post-harvest facilities to the anglers and businessperson. These post-harvest facilities help these people to have organized and fast process. According to, Engr. Miguel Lamberte, the businesspersons are renting the space provided by a dock, where the fishes are brought.
The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority- General Santos Fish Port Complex aims to:
• Promote development of the fishing industry and improve efficiency in handling and distribution of fish and fishery products through the establishment and operation of fish ports.
• Provide fishery related post- harvest facilities to maintain the quality of fish products that could compete in the global market.
• Enhance the income of small fishermen, fish farmers, and fish workers through the provision of services and facilities, which add value to their products.
• Open avenues for additional employment opportunities in new fishery infrastructures and related industries
It was envisioned that the GSFPC should address the fishermen’s needs in terms of fish landing/ handling, marketing and refrigeration facilities. The General Santos Fish Port Complex refrigeration facility is complete with cold storage, ice plant, air blast freezer, contact freezer and processing areas.
