The
importance of the application of Mathematics
in everyday living is nearly inevitable.
Oftentimes overlooked yet stays a truth,
Math makes everything stay on track and
flowing, even the existence of life itself.
In livelihood, for instance, Math is as
important as breathing to those who struggle
to earn, tricycle drivers, for example.
That very example is where
this study entitled "Doon Po Sa Amin:
Mathematics of the Tricycle City" chose to
focus and highlight: the significance of the
application of mathematics in the number of
tricycles in Cabanatuan City, which is
dubbed as the "Tricycle Capital of the
Philippines.
The great number of
tricycles in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija
brings a distinct shift in the life of the
Cabanatuenos. That shift is unique
and exclusively exists in the city where no
one is obliged to walk long distances, for
every corner is a transport terminal. It is
guaranteed that the Cabanatuan City
experience with this great pile of
three-wheeled crafts is distinct and
unforgettable, what more could it be to
those who had the chance to live with the
system?
The application of
Mathematics in the existence of the dense
tricycle system in the City is what leads
the curiosity of the research team and came
up with getting down to facing the
challenges of completing an entry of Nueva Ecija
High School to the "Doon Po Sa Amin
Learning Challenge" hosted by the Smart
Schools Program.
