Layin was a young girl who lives in a field in Mahatao. Her parents were so strict and protec-
tive, a reason why she couldn’t get out of their house. She does nothing but to clean their house, cook and help in the household chores. She never had a playmate for she didn’t have any brothers and sisters.
One day, she thought of getting out of the house to play with the other children of the place because she was bored and tired staying home.
She decided to go to Disvayangan. Once she reached the place, she felt so happy. She began running and playing with the cool blowing wind. When she reached the seashore where the waves were huge, she shouted out to the waves, “Once you reach me, I’ll stay here forever!” She ran with the waves and laughed by herself as she enjoys her freedom.
After a while, her mother arrived home from the field. She was surprised to see Layin not at home. “Layin! Layin!” shouted her mother. Upon seeing that Layin was not around, she headed to the field. She searched for Layin but she was not there .Then she thought of searching her at Disvayangan . There, she saw Layin playing. Her mother called her, “Layin! Why did you go out?” angrily asked mother. When Layin looked at her mother and turning towards her, she didn’t notice the huge wave coming.
Layin wanted to run towards her mother but she can’t move her feet away neither can move .Her feet became stiff until her body was completely hard and turned into a stone. She began to shed tears. Her mother immediately drew near her though was helpless. She just ended staring at what had happened and could hardly believe that her daughter running towards her remained still and had resembled into a stone. Her mother cried and cried and related to her husband the fate of their daughter Layin. Upon hearing this, her husband didn’t believe it too, so, he immediately went to Disvayangan to look for the stone his wife was telling. There he found the stone … resembling a child in a running position.  He felt so dismayed with what his two eyes saw. He hugged it and cried in despair.
Since then, they never knew the reason why their daughter became a stone. The stone till to-
day remains in that place.
