Maragondon was labeled as the “Sleeping Beauty of Cavite” because the mountain back drop has a peculiar skyline that gives first-time viewers the profile of a beautiful woman asleep when seen afar and it is considered a potential tourist attraction if properly advertised. Also, aside from being a potential tourist destination, the town can boast of the industry, thriftiness and tenacity of the beautiful Maragondon townspeople.
Where did Maragondon get its name?
The name “Maragondon” originated from “Madagundong” (from the great and noisy sound of waterfall) and ‘dumadagundong” (roaring and rolling thunder sound) and finally renamed as Maragondon by a committee on geography headed, nonetheless, by nationalist Lope K. Santos.
