                                    ECONOMIC of RICE

Palay rice in the Philippines nowadays is around php. 14.00 Per kilogram. Palay in the Philippines is expensive owing to its low supply and high cost production. Also, it is expensive to produce palay in the Philippines primarily because of high labor costs rice farmers are poor though the price palay in our on average of 2 ha only making it difficult for them to earn large incomes from rice farming alone.

We have a law supply of rice is because of the country’s small agriculture area. We can also reduce the cost of our palay production by adapting labor saving technologies such as combine harvester, thresher and direct sending; and by using technologies that can further improve nutrients such as Leaf Color Chart (LCC) and Minus One Element Technique (MOET).

    Rice Price

Rice in the Philippines is expensive because palay price and rice marketing costs are high. Palay is the main raw material of rice hence, the higher its price, the more expensive the final product is.

Low cost palay will certainly make our rice cheaper. This can be achieving with lower lending interest rates and palay who’s save centers. “Food Security and Self Sufficient in Rice,” food security in rice- there are two (2) levels of food security: National and Household food security. National ability of a country meets the average need of its population. Household ability of a household to buy the rice that they need.

Rice self sufficiency, means the ability to domestically, produce the total rice requirements of the country so that it will not be dependent on imports.
