After
Planting
Monitor the field.
Detect the disease early to limit its spread.
Differentiate tungro symptoms from other disorder by examining the
distribution of disease plant in the field; looking for GLH before and
during disease development; and observing the neighboring fields for
presence of disease plants and GLH.
Use insecticides, only if needed. This is to save money and conserve
friendly insects. The critical time in the development and spread of
tungro is within 6 weeks after transplanting. There is no need to spray
the seedbed; plants that are more than 60 days old after transplanting;
and when no tungro and few GLh are present.
