INTERVIEW:
“Stories of Miracles”
According
to Mrs.Isidra Alcantara- Viernes, who is a
92 years old woman from barrio Bibiclat, the Celebration
of Taong Putik is being done even before she was born.
She talks about the benefits of people in
the community got from doing the tradition of
celebrating the "Taong Putik Festival".
When there were plenty of collections given
by the people, they gain a great harvest in the fields.
She still remembers what her mother told her
about a deadly typhoon story that brings them in big
confusion…
It is about a deadly typhoon that hits their
community that happened decades ago. When many of their
properties destroyed except the original statue of their
Patron Saint (John The Baptist) Apo San Juan Bautista,
who is being praised in their celebration of “Taong
Putik” and what made them amazed was they’ve found
the said statue standing in the center of the whole
flood on their barrio.
