Research Story

The focus story is the narrative about the livelihood of the featured place --- Sitio Baugo. The changes and evolution of Sitio Baugo’s source of income-production of bamboo furniture. It all started when the clan of Alvarado discovered the said livelihood. Seeing that Kabaliwan, as their neighboring town, is abundant with bamboo trees. They think that they can take advantage from this and make it as a source of business and livelihood. Their idea caused the birth of bamboo furniture in their place.

It would take them one to two weeks to derived a complete set of bamboo furniture since hammers and chisels are tools they use aside from the fact that it is manually done. As time passes, competition of families for making the best bamboo furniture in town is extremely high that the use of modern technology is badly needed. Such technology for making bamboo furniture is used nowadays and is locally  as “Balena”. Indeed the bamboo furniture of Sitio Baugo is first class.
