Jose A. Reandino ( Asbestosis Victim )

 

 

        One of the case victim is Jose A. Reandino also known as “Ka Dino” that was born in Leyte on October 6 1930. In 1941 World War 2 started interrupting there peaceful life that push him to leave Leyte together with his mom & brother. Their feet leads them to Manila. The incident never gives Ka Dino the chance to continue his studies. He needs to stop studying because of the war.

               At the age of 18, Ka Dino tried his luck in Guam, although he didn’t finish his studies it never stopped him to pursue his life & learn how to cope up fastly with his new surroundings. Hard work & passion in learning leads Ka Dino to success, he eventually became checker in different establishments until such time that he need to go back in the Philippines in 1957.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

            He stayed in Subic together with his family & found a job in U.S. Naval Base. Because of his efficient work it was easy for him to get the trust of people whom he worked with. For 33 years he spend his life serving the U.S. military which he don’t know would cause him several conflicts in life .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

                After his retirement in 1996, 2 years before the closure of the US naval Base Ka Dino was recruited by his friend to join the YAKAP-SUBIC (Yamang Kalikasan Ating Pinangalagaan) a non government organization which fights for the rights of the people who ware affected be the chemicals that the US military produced, used & here in our own land.

 

 

            In 2000 Ka Dino's had his check up in James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital only to find out that he was also a victim of the military toxic waste the foreigners use in their machinery, facilities & other things. Specifically the chemical that causes Ka Dino suffering is known as ASBESTOS. This chemical takes away any life & continually causes the suffering of thousands of people here in the Phil. Because of this Ka Dino became more active in their organization

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

            Though our government is not willing to help YAKAP-SUBIC they are still trying to get their Justice & they are hoping to get the payment of the damage that has been done to them, to help them support the health services  they needed.
