Sir
Fred Fangunon, a barangay captain, used his initiatives and concern for the
city to take courage and promote DIRECT COMPOSTING as a major solution that can
take care half of the burden the city needs to think for. He published his
essays to the BAGUIO MIDLAND COURIER, a major newspaper in Baguio encouraging people, and asking the
city officials to take note of his simple method that will surely help them.
With these, we the DPSA learned about this caring barangay captain and asked
him for his help to promote DIRECT COMPOSTING, the method he is promoting.
During the release of the city order that states, garbage won’t be collected from
barangays if they are not segregated; only Sir Fred Fangunon’s barangay we’re
able to comply and did more than the city order. Garbage collectors only
collected the non-biodegradable trash and the biodegradable garbage of the said
barangay were composted and were generated into fertilizers. These phenomena
proves that DIRECT COMPOSTING is a feasible and easy to do thing that could
help the city save Baguio. |
