BRGY. BURU-UN
Buru-un is one of the 44 barangays of Iligan City in the province of Lanao del Norte and is sub-divided into 35 puroks. Buru-un is a peaceful barangay known for its cool, crystal clear mountain springs and soothing views and sceneries. Barangay Buru-un is located along the national highway, 8 kilometers away from Iligan City. Buru-un can be located between the coordinates 8° 11' 16 N latitude(DMS) and 124° 10' 37 E longitude(DMS). The neighboring municipalities of Buru-un are Linamon and Kauswagan. Barangay Buru-un is surrounded by fine beaches, and in the mountains one can find natural springs, rivers, majestic waterfalls as well as mountain resorts. One can also enjoy the breath-taking views on your way to these scenic spots. One of the main attractions of Buru-un is the Timoga Spring Pools where natural spring waters freely flow downward from the mountains to pools of different sizes. The major sources of livelihood in Brgy. Buru-un is farming and fishing. But because of the Timoga Spring Pools and other tourist spots in Buru-un, the standard of living and livelihood of the people have raised. Fish vendors, “Habal-habal” motor drivers are given Livelihood programs by the barangay. 20% of the share of national wealth is set aside for these livelihood programs while 80% is for developing the water sources. There are also LABADA (laundry washing) and CARWASHING services offered in Timoga. These services and spring pools have one water source which is the overflowing mountain spring. One can get fresh spring water for free if he/she happens to pass by this area. As an effect, a great number of people depend on the water source and different types of livelihood emerge.
