Conclusion/Result

After our trip to Maligcong, we returned to Poblacion Bontoc and went
directly to the Public Market. We were eager to see the oranges in another
setting. We also videoed the Maligcong oranges sold by the vendors and asked
about the prices.
In addition, we proved to ourselves that the story of “The Wonderful
Orange Fruit” by E. Arsenio Manuel was indeed credible. The oranges might
not be the variety grown now, but indeed, it is very possible that another
type, perhaps a native one, indeed grew during the time of our ancestors.
All in all, the trip was one great experience and we plan to inform
the general public about this special product of Bontoc. It is our hope that
by writing continuously about it, we can influence more people to buy
Maligcong oranges so that this industry will not die out. We have already
solicited the support of Mountain Province Exponent, a local paper, to help
us in our plan by publishing a feature article about the oranges. That is
just one of our initial steps of helping the Maligcong orange survive.
