VARIETIES OF ORANGES
When
a person picks up an orange at a grocery store, supermarket or dining hall, or even perhaps from their own refrigerator,
he/she seldom ever gives it a qualm as to the type of orange being ingested.
Everybody merely thinks, “Oh, a wonderful orange, I’ll think I’ll eat it.” It
is never, “Oh, I think this is Hamlin.” Oranges are among the world's most
important commercial citrus plants and one of the most popular fruits. There
are many varieties of oranges; but this list includes only the ones found at
Maligcong.
The
sweetest orange found there is the Ponkan;
this type of orange is known for being incredibly sweet and juicy. It is medium
to large sized, round/sometimes oval in shape with a dimpled orange peel, they
do, however some
seeds have.
The Hamlin
oranges which are usually round to oval and have a dark yellow to orange color
with a smooth thin peel. They are usually seedless.

The
Sweet orange trees (Citrus sinensis), which are grown in Maligcong, are the most
common orange trees planted there. It includes the navel orange whose peels are
fairly thick and usually yellow to orange in color and is merely seedless.
Another type of orange which is found there is the Valencia, It has colored
flesh, loaded with golden juice of a sweet rich savor and fragrance. They are
smooth and has a thin peel. The last on found there is the Ladu, it is
characterized by its small size with a pebbly and thin orange peel
