Santa Rosa City Welcome Landmark

"Truly times change and people change, but our past has a way of catching with us when it is not recognized and laid to rest by our sense of history and ability to transcend it by our power of personal and social transformation. Part of this process of settlement with our past is encapsulated in our effort to understand our past as a hacienda town." -- as Fr. Gabriel A. Delfino wrote in his dissertation's conclusion.

A famous landmark that greets commuters and travelers upon entrance to Brgy. Tagapo and decades past at Brgy. Dita is the marker of Circulo Once, Inc. with this inscription "Maligayang Pagdating - Santa Rosa, Laguna. Being deeply rooted in helping the community, the Circulo Once has chosen "Live and Help Live" as its motto in spreading its involvement in doing service to the community.

Placed at the center of the marker is the "salakot" with a bamboo background, molded by Domingo O. Cedillo (Mang Menggoy). The other side of the marker is an eight- rayed sun with the alibata K for Kalayaan at the center and the inscription "Mabuhay ang Kalayaan" above.

Like the bamboo whose resiliency typifies the Filipinos' courage to survive the tests of time, be it colonizer or wrath of nature, the "salakot", mostly worn by ordinary Filipino women, has provided shelter from rain and heat, and at times the stormy weather or political turmoil that constantly besets our nation.

The bamboo and the salakot represent the mystique of the community of Santa Rosa, the yin and the yang, resilience and strength, depth and ebullience, passion and compassion. We hold our heads high for having forebears who fought for freedom to end colonization and foreign aggression.
