FEATURES
Known for its influencial history, great art and magnificent culture, the City of Santa Rosa has been named as the Cultural and Heritage Mecca. Its arts encompasses literature, visual arts and the performing arts, including music and dance. Its rich culture is mainly all about the distinctively human activities and values which show how profound Santa Rosa is.
The Arch
Bantayang Bato was constructed as a watchtower where a sentinel was stationed. The original Bantayan was situated in the vicinity of the present bridge. It was constructed between 1859 and 1860 during the administration of Arcadio Arambulo. In 1925, Municipal President Jose Zavalla commissioned David A. Dia to renovate the arch and its last renovation entailed a total demolition. The arch was built at a site near the market area in 1931. Any suspicious or undesirable element that might enter or leave the town could be easily detected and prevented from staging an attack or from seeking refuge in nearby towns.
