This
is the official entry of Camiguin National High School for the
Doon Po Sa Amin Learning Challenge,
a project where teachers and students of
Smart Schools Program
(SSP) partner schools are encouraged to use computer and Internet technologies
to generate web-based information and education materials about their respective
communities.
PROJECT
DESCRIPTION
This focus
study, Mantigue: Restored Paradise, is an official entry for the “Doon Po Sa Amin” Learning Challenge Contest under Science and Environment Category.
Mantigue,
an island, is a very unique place where we can spend time for relaxation and
enjoyment with gleaming white sand and crystal clear water and rich in natural
species. The study presents the hidden beauty of the island; hidden from the
eyes of the people. It explains the importance in balancing nature and gives
information on its natural beauty and numerous marine creatures.
Methodology
The team
conducted an intensive and thorough research about the island. We personally
interviewed the heads of the different agencies and documented all that had
transpired in our face to face chat with them. We were able to gather lots
of information regarding the island Mantigue. We also find time to ask
comments or reactions from the first inhabitants of the place – as they were
evacuated for some reasons. We made an exclusive talk with the professional
divers, members of FIDA, who also made an in-depth study of the species
underneath. They were very generous in giving the data we needed.
