Wonders of Juice Fasting
Story Outline
Hypertension
is a common ailment nowadays and requires expensive medication. The study aimed
to find out if juice fasting could cure hypertension. Specifically, it aims to
find out if there is a significant correlation of the systole and diastole during the duration of the treatment and to
identify some of the short-term side effects experienced by the patients during
and after the treatment.
Findings
show that there is significant correlation between the systole and diastole of
the patients during the duration of the treatments. The four patients who were all diagnosed with
hypertension and other illnesses showed a positive decline on their systole and diastole during the duration of
treatment thus juices fasting can be a treatment to hypertension. Results also
shows that weight loss and skin problems were the only short term side effects
of juice fasting. However, weight loss
is due to the prolonged catabolism being done by the body during fasting but
still energizes the patient. Skin
problems are also due to the rancid oils that purged from the body but this
would make the skin healthy, soft and unblemished when cleaned.
The study will also be very
significant not only to our community but to everybody because it will provide
the following:
Affordable treatment to all income groups:
The study will provide cheap/affordable treatment for the said disease.
Minimum medical supervision: you don’t need the supervision of a
professional to be able to conduct the treatment
Simplicity of
treatment: The amount
of education required is low so you don’t have to have a high educational level
to be able to understand and do the treatment.
Home treatment:
It can be done at home and in any location as long as there is a supply of
fruits and vegetables. Fruit and vegetable supplies needed in this program are
always available. The program is very good since it is not dependent on
supplies of drugs also on having a high insurgency available.
Positive community event: Additionally, the treatment is a
community event and not a medical event wherein everybody gets involved; that,
patients are actively participating in the healing process rather than just
awaiting for medical intervention.
Improved nutritional awareness: Patients will then live a healthier
lifestyle because they’re already educated on this.
The treatment is safe:
Besides, people will then stop taking expensive and risky medications that are
worse dangerous and unsure.
Better health after treatment: The program detoxifies the body and
gives people a better quality of life.
A. Gathering and
Preparation of materials

Fruits and vegetables were first
gathered or bought from the market as long as these are organically grown. These are washed with clean cool water,
placed in the juicer or blender. The
juicer will separate the pulp from the extracts of the fruits and vegetables
which would become the juice of the patients.
A questionnaire was also used in
determining the side effects of juice fasting during the duration of the
treatment. It first asked on
the positive changes before it asked
for the side effects experienced by the patients during the duration of the
treatment.
The patients will take in the 100%
concentration of the juice and will take it as long as they like to and as much as they want anytime of the
day. However, they are not allowed to
take in any other liquid or solid food.
Every night their blood pressures were taken and were recorded starting
from the day that they were diagnosed until their blood pressure were
normalized and were stable.
At
the end of their juice fasting, the patients can eat solid and other forms of
food and liquid provided they are to eat slowly, to eat small quantities and,
to chew the food well.
The study involves 4 different cases
of patients in St. Theodore’s Hospital who are all suffering from
hypertension. All of the patients were
admitted for a certain period of time depending on their diagnosis before they
were allowed as out patient. Patient 1
was confined for 7 days, Patient 2 for a day, Patient 3 for 29 days, and
Patient 4 for 7 days. Table 1 below
shows the patients’ diagnosis and the dates of their stay in the hospital.

To determine if there is a significant
correlation between the systolic and diastolic blood pressure of the patient
during the duration of the medication, Pearson formula was used. This is to
determine the significance of juice fasting in a healing process especially in
hypertension. It made use of the
collected systole and diastole of the patient’s blood pressures from the day of
their admission to the first day of their treatment up until their blood
pressures were stable for the last five days.
Descriptive statistics such as
frequency counts, percentage and ranking were also used to analyze the gathered
data on the short-term side effects of juice fasting during and after the
treatment.
