The community of Loakan is a cool, wide place commonly dominated by Igorots or the native people and mostly by Ibalois.

Our place is still considered a natural environment despite of the numerous houses built by immigrants residing in this community. You can still see plants retained by buildings in each purok, establishments and houses in their occupied areas. This place commonly grows wild sunflowers especially pine trees located in nearby mountains that give a cool climate.

In addition, the barangay experiences during the months of March to May and wet season during the months of June to October. Since it is located in Baguio City which experiences cold weather the whole year but is colder during the months of November to February due to Siberian Wind. As with the cold weather, more residents in the community are prone to illnesses like common colds, cough and other illnesses when it comes to the cold climate.

The problems that often beset this place are: improper segregation and disposal of garbage, astray dogs that cause scattered feces and the dirty flowing river containing chemicals, dead animals and garbage thrown in it.

Our focus study applies to the unattended health status and some inconvenient situations in our community that brought illnesses in each household and appeals to the preventive measures to observe when it comes to avoiding the frequent besetting of these illnesses.
