Camiguin with its 2 Islets

Next to this paradise island Camiguin are its 2 smaller islands. One is the White Island which is covered with very fine white sand. The other one is the Mantigue Island, which is a bountiful forest and a white sand along the shoreline.

MANTIGUE ISLAND

Three kilometers off the shore from Barangay San Roque, Mahinog is an island four hectares of evergreen forest fringed with sandy beach. The boat ride to Mantigue is quite exciting, as one has to contend with strong diverging currents due to the open sea. One side of the island is ideal for swimming as it is shallow and has few corals. The opposite side is a deep drop off ideal for snorkeling and diving.

Mantigue Island is rather an experience than a sight-seeing tour. Mantigue is inhabited by 10 families, all related to each other. A small school was built for these families. They are the ones who will take care of you. They provided you with a boat to Mantigue, they cook for you and lend you some snorkeling gear for a minimum price. These families maintain the peace and cleanliness in the island.

The island is surrounded by a gleaming white beach of powdery coral sand. The clear waters reveal the hard and soft corals and sea weeds that surround the island, making it ideal for swimming, snorkeling and diving. In the center of Mantigue is a lush, green miniforest filled with wild grasses and several trees and plants.

WHITE ISLAND

An uninhabited white sandbar where the view of twering Mt. Hibok-Hibok and Old Vulcan reflects the grandeur the Province of Camiguin has ever achieved. It is reached within 10 minutes through light water transport from anywhere in Yumbing, Mambajao area.

Ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling the intensely vibrant reefs around it, White Island resides 2 km off the coast of Mambajao is the Camiguin’s popular sand bar. At times, it is in the shape of the letter C, sometimes letter I, depending on the ocean tide. There are no shade spots on this island, so sensitive folks would be wise to remember sun blocks or beach umbrella.
