Ansing's Family Life

Family life starts at the time of marriage and ends with the death of the couple. During this term, every family goes through five different stages of life, namely: founding stage, expanding stage, schooling stage, launching stage and retirement stage.

Let us describe Nanay Ansings’ family life according to the abovementioned stages.

1. Founding Stage: (From marriage till the birth of the first child)

Nanay Ansing married at the age of 27 to Jose Bullecer. According to her, Mr. Jose was so sweet, caring and loving during these years.

2. Expanding Stage: (Childbearing and childrearing, birth of the first child to pre-school years)

Nanay Ansing gave birth to four children namely: Joel, Breksio, Ramoncita (deceased) and Remedios. There was no big problem that arose in the family during this stage. There was no pre-school for their children. Hence, money for pre school education was not something to cause a headache.

3. Schooling Stage: (From elementary to college)

Mr. and Mrs. Bullecer sent their children to school from elementary to college. The two sons became engineers while the two daughters finished commerce.

According to her co-teacher Ma’am Areo, Nanay Ansing during the collage days of her children took the biggest share of the financial burden especially that her husband was into complicated relationships with women.

Ma’am Areo further said that, Nanay Ansing confided once that every time she heard rumors that her husband has "significant others", she didn’t give a big damn on it. What was important was that she could remain composed and sane to take care of her and give them the future that they deserved.

4. Launching Stage: (Vocational Adjustments by the children to building families of the children)

Nanay Ansing was a living witness on how her children seek for employment. She also enjoyed seeing through the new details of her children’s married life.

According to her granddaughter Memie, Nanay Ansing at the age of 100 could clearly enumerate the names of her children, the husbands /wives of her children as well as her grandsons and granddaughters. But this time at age 101 she can’t memorize all anymore.

5. Retirement Stage: (children leave their parents home)

Nanay Ansing’s children are away from her except one who is just a meter away from her house. Son Joel is in Davao while her son Breksio is also in Davao with their families. Her daughter Ramoncita passed away last May 2008 due to cancer of the breast.

Nanay Ansing is a widower. Her husband died at age 79.However she is not the totally lonely for she has visiting children and grandchildren from the cities.

Nanay Ansing is constantly checked by Dr. Remevic Maria Quiblat, a young doctor who is actually her granddaughter.
