The Music

 

The music basically expresses the general way of life of calamianen, including ways of thinking, beliefs, customs, language and traditions all are distinctly unique.

     The first composition was  Halina sa Coron means welcome in coron , and the latest to be finished is Kulimlim which means cloudy.                    

     The group has met much success in calamianes and Puerto Princesa City. They often participate in cultural show and in various celebrations in northern Palawan. Tribu calamianen won first place in a contest at the Baragatan festival 2006 with their original compositions and they also got 2nd runner-up in Pinoy Pop Idol in Manila.

 

Other Compositions

   

 1.Tapyas A famous hill in Calamianes with 700+ steps.  A historical monument at the heart of the town.

 

2.Abeh This is an endemic expression only uttered by calamianes residents.  This has been a long trademark of northern palaweños to the rest of the province.  Abeh is a local expression like saying WOW, GREAT, MARVELOUS, UNBELIEVABLE and other related meanings.

 

3. Amus Taren 

A song that invites visitors to appreciate the beauty of the province.  It describes the green and blue environment of Calamianes

 

4.Tribu Calamianen

The official song of Tribu Calamianen encouraging the local populace to save and sustain the music of Calamianes.

 

5.Padaraw

Drumbeats and yells invoking good spirits and casting out bad entities.  Normally done before starting the festive

 

6.Pabilugon

A full moon festival music.  This goes with a dance during the height of full moon. 

 

7.Hiram An environmental song.  A call to save the environment for the future generation

 

8. Balut, Chicharon at Itlog ng Pogi

A song inspired by a balut vendor in town.
