This city uses a lot of instruments in measuring. The people here showed their resourcefulness in making their instruments like the “caltec”. It is made of a halved plastic bottle and has a variety of sizes with corresponding prices. It is used in measuring several kinds of seafoods like “tahong”, “kinason”, “bulinaw”. “Gantang” is used in measuring peanuts. It is assorted in sizes with different prices. It is made of wood and sometimes plastic.
There are also units of measurements that are not part of the English measurements used in their public markets. This include “lapad”, which they use glass bottles in and is used in selling vinegar called “pinakurat” and “swaki”.
In their markets, they sell their spices in packs. They use plastics as their containers and they call these “putos”. Each may contain 3-5 pieces of their products.
They use different kinds of measurements to make selling easier. This is a way where in Lapu-Lapu men show their resourcefulness by means of reusing useless materials to gain more profit for our economy.
