In general parameters such as pH, DO and total coliform are our basis in classifying the lake. The dissolved oxygen(DO) concentrating of 8.7 mg/L indicates that it is within the standard of class B. The hydrogen ion concentration (pH) ranges from 7.3 to 8.0,which falls under the category of class A to class C.

Presently the beneficial uses of Lake Sebu are for fishing ,bathing, recreational purpose, spawning ground areas for various species and also serves as tourist zone which falls under Class B to Class C category pursuant to Section 68 of DAO 34.

With these findings, we therefore recommended Lake Sebu be classified as Class C in station 1 to station 7 while station 8 to station 10 be classified as class B with total coliform as determinant parameter. The General Provisions of Water Classification prevail: Classification of water body according to a particular designated use or uses does not preclude beneficial use of the water for other purposes that are lower in classification provided that such beneficial use does not prejudice the water quality for such waterТТ.

As presented in the graph, almost all of the stations are classified in category A to C which means that the water require complete treatment (drinking purposes), intended for recreation, and fishing purposes.

In terms of the pH, the following got the average in respective order: Station 8 (Three Fingers) 8.0, a pH of 7.9 were the Stations 6 (Sitio Tabete), 7 (Sitio Lamsufo), and 9 (Inlet, Bacdulong). Then, a pH of 7.8, Station 5 (Isla Trabuco), Station 2 (Estares Resort) and 3 (Lot 70) got a pH of 7.7, pH 7.6 for Station 10 (Logpond), and Station 8 (Sitiop Pag-asa) got pH of 7.3 which means more or less pH in all water stations are with in the neutral range.

Whereas, the dissolved oxygen in water is much higher in Station 10 (Logpond) amounting to 9.4 mg/L, 9.1 mg/L for both Stations 5 (Isla Trabuco), and 6 (Sitio Tabete), 8.8 mg/L in both Stations 3 (Lot 70) and 7 (Sitio Lamsufo), 8.3 mg/L both Stations 2 (Estares Resort) and 8 (Three Fingers), 8.2 mg/L for Station 1 (Sitio Pag-asa), and 7.8 mg/L for Station 9 (Inlet, Bacdulong). The poor wastewater management creates problems in dissolved oxygen is the main factor causing fish kills and bad odor problems (Wastewater Management Assessment

Procedures Manual).

For the Total Dissolved Solids, Station 2 (Estares Resort) got the highest of 239, followed by 231 for Station 1 (Sitio Pag-asa), 177 for Station 6 (Sitio Tabete), 168 Station 10 (Logpond), 158 for Station 5 ( Isla Trabuco), 151 Station 8 (Three Fingers), 150 Station 9 (Inlet, Bacdulong), 149 Station 4 (Fish Port), 141 Station 3 (Lot 70), and 132 Station 7 (Sitio Lamsufo). The greater the dissolved solids in the water, the greater the amount of nutrients. An excess of nutrients would mean Eutrophication which stimulate the growth of algae.

The Total Suspended Solid in the different stations are of the following order: Station 9 (Inlet, Bacdulong) is the highest average of 17 followed by Station 8 (Three Fingers) of 13, 12 for Station 1 (Sitio Pag-asa), Station 6 (Sitio Tabete), and Station 7 (Sitio Lamsufo). Next, 8 for Station 5 (Isla Trabuco), 7 Station 10 (Logpond), 6 for Station 2 (Estares Resort) and Station 3 (Lot 70), and 4 for Station 4 (Fish Port). The higher the Total suspended solid would also mean the higher is the turbidity of the receiving waters thereby blocking the light penetration to the lake bottom for light dependent organisms (Wastewater Management Assessment Procedures Manual).

RECOMMENDATIONS

Based on the information gathered from the people, students, and other local leaders involved in the interview recommend the following:

MENRO (Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office)

1.By asking the help of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Officials to coordinate to MENRO and to propose a Project proposal to implement the ordinance related to the development of the lake.

2.Advocacy and education for the people who are a residence of the lake shore on how to manage and dispose their waste properly:
a. Symposium
b. Workshops on how to dispose/manage their garbage using 3R's (Reuse, reduce, and Recycling)

3.Propose a Project Proposal to the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) to make an ordinance and laws for the Proper Waste Management of the people in the municipality.

Department of Agriculture (DA)

1.Conducting seminars, symposium, workshops, and trainings to the people on how to make organic fertilizers out of water hyacinth and water lettuce.
2.Conduct a livelihood program on the utilization of water hyacinth into different products such as: bags, baskets, and organic fertilizer.
3.Coordinate to the different Elementary/Secondary school heads to join and participate for the Clean-up drive.
4.Make and establish a rule that will be strictly implemented in the residence of the lake shore.
5.Conduct competitions, Inter school competitions which will help them to achieve their aims and goals.

Example:
Search for the Most Active School and Student Leaders who show their concern and participating actively in the community service.

6.Call for the actions of government and non-government agencies for the Clean-up drive.
7.Awareness of Local Government into some chemicals and fertilizers going to the lake.
8.Conduct a "Bayanihan" or set a time/day for cleaning the lakes of Lake Sebu.
