This focus study entitled: SAGIP LAWA (SAVING THE LAKES) is an entry for the Doon Po Sa Amin Learning Challenge under Science and Environment Category. The study is based on the Ecological Condition of lakes as affected by interactions of the human inhabitants.

        As one of the main sources of livelihood, lakes of  Lake Sebu became the site for raising Tilapia by the Fish Cage Operators. An increase in the number of Fish Cage and inhabitants around the lakeshores threaten the ecological balance of the lakes.

          As stated in the Public Hearing of Lake Sebu (December 12, 2007) that Lake Sebu is one of the targets of Current Year 2007 for river/lake classification. Lake Sebu is proclaimed as a protected area by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 65, otherwise known as the Lake Sebu Watershed Forest Reserved. Lake Sebu, which was formed due to high volume of debris or mega landslide, has shallow depths. Ten(10) water quality monitoring stations were selected based on the sources of water pollution in the nearby and adjacent vicinities. Station 1 is located at Sitio Pag-asa, Brgy. Poblacion with coordinates 06 degrees 13'00'' north latitude to 124 degrees   92'  65.2'' east longitudes. Station 2 is located at Estares Resort, Brgy.Poblacion which lies within the geographical coordinates 06 degrees 13' 19'' north latitude to 124 degrees   92'  65.2'' east longitudes. Station 3 is located at Lot 70, Brgy.Poblacion with coordinates 06 degrees 13'  37.9'' north latitude to 124 degrees   42'  22.2'' east longitudes. Station 4 is located at Fish Port, Purok Rosas, Brgy. Poblacion with coordinates 06 degrees 14'  06.6'' north latitude to 124 degrees   42'  43.5'' east longitudes. Station 5 is located at Isla Trabuco, Brgy. Poblacion with coordinates 06 degrees   14'  15.5''north latitude to 124 degrees   42'  43.2'' east longitudes. Station 6 is located at Sitio Tabete, Brgy. Poblacion with coordinates 06 degree 14'  35.6'' east latitude to 124 degrees 42'  56.8'' east longitudes. Station 7 is located at Sitio Lamsufo, Brgy. Poblacion with coordinates 06 degrees   40'  30.1'' north latitude to 124 degrees   42'  41.7'' east longitudes. Station 8 is located at Three fingers, Bacdulong with coordinates 06 degrees   14'  06.3'' north latitude to 124 degrees   42'  02.5'' east longitudes. Station 9 is located at Inlet, Bacdulong with coordinates 06 degree  14'  02.8'' north latitude to 124 degrees   41'  34.7'' east longitudes. Station 10 is located at Logpond coordinates 06 degrees   13'  14'' north latitude to 124 degrees   41'  51.7'' east longitudes.
