Provincial Training Center has abundantly provided many fishes and crops throughout the whole province of Marinduque. Abundance is never impossible because PTC has the widest area for the agricultural products to be produced. Tamayo, Sta. Cruz is the known barangay where the PTC stands, but as matter of fact, PTC stands between the boundaries of two consecutive barangays- Tawiran and Tamayo, both in the town of Sta. Cruz.

Tawiran, the barangay which is before Barangay Tamayo claimed that the Provincial Training Center is also a part of their barangay. That’s the information given to the researchers by Tawiran’s Barangay Captain, Domingo P. Estrella. And with the help of the Barangay documents prepared by his secretary, Lolita P. Tagle, the researchers were able to gather sufficient data about their community profile.

Tawiran is a medium-sized barangay with a total of 1, 641 citizens from the 384 families. Its annual income raged to P706 038 based on their year 2008 budget. Many Tawiraneos earn their living through rice harvest, coconut

plantation and fishery. PTC has benefited them by employing some of the Tawiraneos to work in the fields and ponds of the Provincial Training Center.

Tamayo, on the other hand, rises itself higher than Tawiran for it is the official barangay known for being the handle of the Provincial Training Center province wide. The researchers even called the PTC as Tamayo before learning about the real title of the place. With the hand of Tamayo’s Barangay Captain Elpidio Pizarra, information were sufficiently gathered to discussed the livelihood of Tamayo.

The case about the ownership of the PTC is still on going, leaving the researchers to avoid conclusions. We featured the two barangays to prevent bias and to promote both to the public. The researchers only placed Tamayo as the main place for the PTC on their project because  majority of the public addresses the Provincial Training Center in Tamayo, Sta. Cruz, Marinduque.

The population of Tamayo is never far from Tawiran’s. Selling putos, farming and  working in the PTC are the major source of livelihood in Tamayo. It is said that a Tissue Culture Laboratory will be established in Tamayo for the next coming years making the barangay to be much modernize than any other barangay in the town Sta. Cruz.
