Performing one of the most beloved movie musicals of all-time “The Sound of Music”. The film presents a history of the Von Trapp family which is not wholly accurate. THE SOUND OF MUSIC is old-fashioned and glossy, lacking the gritty realism and appeal for social consciousness that dominates other movies of the mid-1960s. Nevertheless, audience then and now can't get enough of it; because for all its breathtaking scenery and cheery optimism, the film's characters are individuals with credible personal and political struggles, both externally challenged and internally troubled, for whom the audience comes to care and caring, generations of viewers have been reminded of the importance of family and the universality of music; they have taken heart in the idea that "when the Lord closes a door, somewhere He opens a window" and been inspired to "climb every mountain" in search of a dream.
Another film based on a real-historic event the “Pocahontas”, it is based on the story and folklore around the Native American woman Pocahontas , and features a fictionalized account of her encounter with Englishman John Smith and the English settlers that arrived from the Virginia Company. It captures the spirit of the woman Pocahontas and her people, and the spirit of the early days of Jamestown . The Disney folks did put in some clever references to the history and some of the action is inspired by history. If you know the history, it adds to the pleasure of the movie.
Highlighted by a spectacular scene in which a helicopter descended from above to pick up the remaining Americans during the fall of Saigon . Miss Saigon tells the tragic tale of a doomed romance involving an Asian woman abandoned by her American lover.
The colorful drama chronicling the life of 19th-century the film “Moulin Rouge” was also presented. It tells the story of a young British poet / writer , Christian, who falls in love with the star of the Moulin Rouge , cabaret actress and courtesan Satine. Moulin Rouge was to the audiences and expresses that same thrill and excitement in a way to which contemporary movie-goers can relate. It takes well-known popular music , mostly drawn from the MTV Generation , and making it into a tale set in a turn-of-the- century Paris cabaret .
