The greatest challenge of the day is how to bring about a change of the heart when we begin to take the lowest place to wash the feet of others, to care for others… then we can truly say, “Now I have begun.” Through each day of our lives, we face different trials and challenges. Because of this, we are motivated to untangle the hardships we are encountering nowadays. And because of the dilemmas being carried out such as poverty and unemployment, people in Suba masulog in the city of Lapu-Lapu strived hard and successfully found solution to the problem their facing and it is through rope making. There was this 40 years of age hardworking man named Willie Casul, who is in service of rope making in already a score said that he and his fellow can finish approximately 500pcs of rope each day which cost P1.50 each. The ropes are said to be made of abacca and sometimes of “Opak” which is made by a rope maker called “tursihan.” Their products will be exported in some countries such as Germany and United States . Another 37 years of age named Gina Manatag who is serving in the rope industry since her childhood. Together with her fellows they made different sizes of ropes, the small ones and the big ones. Small ropes are used to tie up the “lechon” while the big ropes are being exported to other countries. She could make 15 rolls a day which is 16 meters per roll.
