The Issue

Nobody can deny his emptiness in terms of carrying these problems. It's seen morally! But how wide are your eyes open not seeing the problems of your surroundings, your environment, our Mother Earth? It is a problem that we have noticed since the industrial revolution, when trees, houses and cars were covered in soot from the factories. Everyone needs the change, and I'm demanding it now.

Lapu Lapu City may have these world-class industries and helped itself bloom like a flower in the midst. But this plant is not that colorful as you have expected. It's now a shade of black and a core of mercy killing.

MEPZ 1 and 2 are internationally known for a wide production of indefinite processes and frankly a producer of this black soot. Focusing on air pollution, these factories release black and warm smoke on the atmosphere. It consumes everything, our breath, our health, our life. These are deadly pollutants!

In a scientific study of Lapu Lapu City 's environmental status, it frankly stated that the island is under a vast manipulation of slightly heavy pollutants specifically occurring air pollution. Due to the city's development and high-urbanization, more factories are upgrading and emerging distant to distant and economic stability is also rising. But who would ever think and compare to other places that the consequences is as painful as a melting iron on your skin. These companies and producing factories are exhausting bad air unto the environment with their improper solid waste disposal. They burn and dispose this gas freely and not to mention many lives are drowning to death.

Sad to say, the issue is not over. I greatly believe on the saying “Modern technology owes ecology an apology”. Advanced vehicles are now released unto the market, with arousing styles, attributes and mind-storming features. They can drive you miles away. But every mile it takes kills living things. According to a local survey, 23.3% of the city's air pollution is from vehicles. Even if it did not make it's rate to half of the population, it still contributes to the increasing rate of pollutants and especially the affected ones.

Another data from a reliable source, 1373.4 ppm (parts per million) of suspended pollutants are present on Lapu Lapu City this simply signifies a big kind of disaster on not just Lapu Lapu City but also affecting other areas. If these studies are still insufficient and needs to be proven for you, why not take a deep breath outside and examine yourself. You're maybe silently suffering from pneumonia, heart ailments and other serious diseases.

At this juncture, through this site, the authorities are embossing these two ways of seeking the answer to these problem. Concerned students made a prototype namely the TFI (Toxic Fume Isolator) and the Exhaust Detoxifier. As these inventions were tested, it was seen that each one could be of big help in our community.

The TFI prototype burns non-biodegradable materials such that it was designed to keenly isolate the fumes that are highly hazardous. This fume is cooled for solidification causing no harm when released rather than releasing it in a gaseous state.

At the other hand, the Exhaust Detoxifier project aims to lessen the toxicity level of air using a device that is able to filter and detoxify hazardous chemicals produced by combustion. In the researchers' experimentation, they made 4 set-ups using sulfur dioxide and another 4 set-ups using vehicle exhaust.

These are part of the schools community out reach. Hoping that these would make things happen accordingly and in a good place. Not to soon, we will eventually see Lapu Lapu City as a slice of paradise that has never been seen before.
