Project description

This Focus Study entitled “Inventions of the Millennium” is an entry for the “Doon Po Sa Amin” Learning Challenge under the Science and Environment Topic Category. The study is a feature about the inventions of young concerned scientists to help in the reduction of the air pollution in the City of Lapu-Lapu after having known that air is highly contaminated and can destroy the environment, which might be the reason for Lapu-Lapu dethroned from the title as the best residential area in the region.

Methodology

The team underwent an intensive research on the level of air pollution in Lapu-Lapu City. Then, the team consulted the help of co-students, which are known to be young scientist after creating two prototypes that help in minimizing the effects of air pollution towards the citizens and the environment of the community. Data were retrieved from the concerned scientist with our community's environment. Their results were obtained through scientific and systematic investigative researching and prototyping.

Team Timeline

June 2008: The STEC high school students were assigned to different DPSA topics.

July 2008: Brainstorming of the focus study to be used as the official entry of the category Science and Environment.

August 2008: Basing from the focus study, topics were organized and assigned to different students to do intensive research.

September 2008: The field research started.

October 2008: Researches were analyzed, compiled and condensed to derive an efficient conclusion.

November 2008: Outlining of topics to be published on the web. Over viewing and coding on the featured articles.

December 2008: Web layouting and publishing.

January 2009: Finalization and final editing.
